Terms of Service

Last updated: March 21, 2026

The short version: This is an anonymous emotional journaling service. Use it respectfully, do not abuse anonymity, and do not treat it as emergency or clinical care.

1. Eligibility

Mentally Prepare is currently available only for users aged 18 and above. By creating an account, you confirm that you are at least 18 years old.

2. Acceptable Use

You agree to use the service in a way that protects the safety, privacy, and anonymity of other users.

3. Anonymous Content

Your journal entries are shared only with your matched partner after the app's unlock timing. Content is not public, not searchable, and not designed for social distribution. You are responsible for what you write, even when you remain unnamed.

4. Safety Review

We may surface crisis-support information when content indicates self-harm or acute distress. Users may report content they believe is unsafe. Journal entries are private by default, but human review may occur when content is reported, legally required, or flagged for serious safety risk.

5. Day 21 Reveal

Identity reveal is optional and consent-based. Both users must choose to reveal before any identity details are shown. If either user chooses to stay anonymous, both users stay anonymous and neither person is told who declined.

Reveal options may include first name only, name and college, contact details with separate confirmation, or staying anonymous. Email is never shared automatically.

6. Account Termination

We may suspend or remove accounts that violate these terms, abuse platform features, create risk for other users, or are required to be restricted for legal or operational reasons. We do not guarantee that every user will be matched within a specific timeframe.

7. Limitation of Liability

Mentally Prepare is a reflective journaling product, not therapy, counselling, medical advice, psychiatric treatment, emergency response, or crisis intervention. If you feel unsafe, contact emergency services, a trusted person, or a crisis helpline immediately. To the maximum extent permitted by law, you use the service at your own risk.
